Right now, law is upside down.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ecosystems are being destroyed <\/em>
\nby dangerous industrial activity, which is legal.<\/em><\/p>\n

Those standing up to protect their<\/em>
\ncommunities are criminalized.<\/em><\/p>\n

But we can realign law,<\/em><\/p>\n

helping make ecocide an international crime<\/em><\/p>\n

and protecting those protectors.<\/em><\/p>\n

Law is like a pyramid.<\/em><\/p>\n

Soft law, like the Paris agreement, <\/em>
\nis unenforceable.<\/em><\/p>\n

It cannot protect us.<\/em><\/p>\n

Civil law, where we find most environmental<\/em>
\nregulation also does not protect us.<\/em><\/p>\n

Suing companies is expensive and difficult.<\/em><\/p>\n

Corporations simply budget for it <\/em>
\nand continue to pollute.<\/em><\/p>\n

Only criminal law can stop the harm.<\/em><\/p>\n

124 states are parties to the Rome Statute,<\/em><\/p>\n

the governing document <\/em>
\nfor international criminal law.<\/em><\/p>\n

Any signatory Head of State <\/em>
\ncan propose an amendment.<\/em><\/p>\n

When two-thirds of states sign up <\/em>
\nit becomes law.<\/em><\/p>\n

There is no veto, <\/em>
\nno time limit…<\/em><\/p>\n

and all state parties, however small, <\/em>
\nhave an equal vote.<\/em><\/p>\n

Small, climate-vulnerable states therefore have a<\/em>
\nunique incentive to put forward this amendment.<\/em><\/p>\n

This is the legal fast lane,<\/em><\/p>\n

but it costs money <\/em>
\nthose small states don’t have.<\/em><\/p>\n

But between us, we do.<\/em><\/p>\n

By signing up online to a legal document,<\/em>
\nwe become trustees of the Earth,<\/em><\/p>\n

while gifting funds to finance <\/em>
\nthose very same small States.<\/em><\/p>\n

And because this document<\/em>
\nis legally valid across the globe,<\/em><\/p>\n

wherever activists are arrested <\/em>
\nthey can present it in court.<\/em><\/p>\n

They can speak out <\/em>
\nabout the ecocide they are facing…<\/em><\/p>\n

and why they choose to stand up to it.<\/em><\/p>\n

The document creates an opportunity<\/em>
\nfor any judge with a conscience,<\/em><\/p>\n

as they may use it as grounds to acquit.<\/em><\/p>\n

When this starts happening, <\/em>
\nthe Earth Protectors Defence has a precedent…<\/em><\/p>\n

and a new Life Force is unleashed.<\/em><\/p>\n

It’s simple and powerful.<\/em><\/p>\n

A legal Rebel Alliance of Earth Protectors…<\/em><\/p>\n

coming together to realign law <\/em>
\nwith a higher moral code.<\/em><\/p>\n

Protecting the earth. <\/em>
